Room Data Sheets SmartTool

RDS (Room Data Sheets) are used to document the details and requirements for every space within a project. They are typically prepared by the client during the briefing phase (also called architectural programing in the US) of the design process. They may be updated throughout the design to reflect changes or provide an easier understanding of the people responsible for delivering a project.

The Room Data Sheets SmartTool allows users to create rooms (or space) sheets of data using the Revit project. It is a quick and precise tool that can be used for sheet, elevation and schedule views. The tool is able to create 3D, plans, elevations, and schedule views for spaces or rooms that are named parametrically and numbering new sheets.

The tool will default to the Room Numbering Template and Sheet Format that is set by the Revit Project. However, you can select an alternative sheet style and name by clicking the Tool Options tab. Click ‘Load configuration …” on the toolbar to replace current settings with previously saved configurations. This can reduce the amount of needed for manual rework for different rooms and types.

The ‘Naming’ tab allows the user to choose if the space or room find more is included in the Sheet Name text box that appears on the left of the screen. The ‘View Title: option determines what text appears in the title bar for each view. View Increment is the number of increments that exist between each view on the sheet. The ‘Spacing’ option allows you to alter the spacing between each view. The ‘Exclude Titles from Estimating View Sizes for Sheets’ option will stop titles from being included in the calculation of the number of views on the sheet.
